Dr G grew up in Kloof, a small town just outside Durban. He has always had a passion to help people from a young age and loved doing outreaches with his church group in his hometown. It was from this desire to help people that he discovered his calling to be a doctor. He excelled in high school and matriculated with full distinctions. Having earned a scholarship, he moved to Pretoria in 2006, where he studied medicine through the University of Pretoria.

After graduating, Dr G moved back to KZN, where he did his internship and community service training at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital, an extremely busy hospital where he gained vast experience in all fields of medicine.
